Does a college education differ extensively from being self-educated when it comes to writing? I attended college briefly but never got the chance to finish. In your experience, dear readers, does it matter? What have you heard on the subject? For those of you who hold degrees and wrote both before and after your education: Is it easier for you to get published now and, if so, why?

It seems like a lot of writers get an easier ride if they have finished college. For everything else though, it seems debatable, doesn't it? Especially with the lack of jobs these days.
