Personal Odds and Ends

I am going to try to post (briefly) things going on with me more often. Don't worry, they will be book/writing related. I wouldn't use this space just to talk about myself, you guys would leave and you are too precious for that.
**************
First, I received a Luminous Luminary Laurel from Donna at Believe in Yourself. She has been awarding them to writers she feels most deserve them. I am always grateful to Donna for her friendship and encouragement. She is such a kind soul and a talented writer herself. She never fails to make people feel good about themselves. Thank you, Donna!

I am no longer a patron at the bookstore in my town. My best friend and I have been having very negative interactions with one of the clerks there but, apparently, it isn't just her. They cannot post a sign saying "No Disabled People" but it is sure what they broadcast. If you guys want me to go into it all someday, I will... promise.

A flash fiction of mine has been accepted at www.flashesinthedark.com. It will be posted there on Tuesday. I will post the link on my acceptances page when I get it.

What goes up...
I got two rejections in the span of two hours yesterday. Both were personalized but, while one was encouraging, the other one wasn't. I wish I would have gotten a form rejection from the one that wasn't; I cried so hard. No matter what I do with my writing, all it takes is one nasty person to bring me down; my husband really doesn't understand it because, after all, I was just accepted a few days ago. I am not submitting there anymore.

I updated my Poetry Place page Thursday. Check it out if you want to.

I appreciate you guys!

  1. Jennifer, you deserved the award.
I would love to hear the story about your bookstore.
Congrats on the good news from flash. But I know how awful it feels to be rejected. Just keep in mind some of those people are on power trips, and what goes around, comes around.

  2. I'd love to hear the bookstore story as well. I'm looking forward to seeing your flash peice! And I'm sorry about the nasty rejection. I've never understood why people feel the need to be unpleasant. Perhaps they were just having a bad day and decided to take it out on you.
