DIY MFA Update

Last week was Submission Week.  I sent out ten packets of poetry.  I have over 22 submissions making the rounds altogether with a couple more possible by next week.

This week, I believe, is about making more of the poems I wrote in November shine.  It's going to take a lot of work but, by week's end, I should have a list of new pieces to begin circulating.

As far as acceptances and rejections go, I've had two and three respectively so far this year.  Last year, I received eleven acceptances total so... not bad.

Oh, I have found a publisher that has just expanded from a literary magazine into the chapbook realm.  Sunday, I sent an e-mail with questions.  If they answer enough to where I'm comfortable, I shall be submitting.

So, that's the start of my 2014.  How is yours going?  Any new projects?

  1. I have two new writing projects: both syllabi for courses I'm teaching at the tech!

Ok, so that's not necessarily what you meant. Nonetheless I wanted to comment so you know I still keep up with your blog and appreciate your comments on mine. I also owe you an answer: I intend to go to grad school this fall, in September. Looking at going to the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

    1. I remember Alaska but wasn't sure when it started. How many schools accepted you for their graduate program?

Wow, the tech! Sounds like a big change from junior high. Good luck.
