Velocity (A Poem)

Velocity

I’m only a broken arrow
Gliding in pieces from the bow
No steady slice through air
Or solid snick upon release

Useless twig of my form flies
Feeling frayed edges of string-memory
Burrowing into my hollow spine
Vibrations of unrealized grace

The fingers he once held me between
Warm me still as I fall
